Brochure Reflection

Journal #22: I think the project is going well so far. I’ve managed to come up with a logo I don’t hate, and Jordan came up with a killer mission statement. I think the issue is in product design. Also, because Jordan and I are a great team I feel a bit nervous about how well this is actually going. She does a great job making sure that we follow the rubric, and I’m captain of semantics/design. It feels too easy. However, I do think we need to take a fine toothed comb and go through to see if we follow AIDA. Overall, I think that we doing great with our cynical voice (it does a great job of targeting our demographic of college students) while ‘making’ something that is intentional and keeps in mind issues/concerns that the average consumer of our product would have.

Communication (Sorry Professor Miller We didn’t talk in person, but in our defense we had fewer people to organize and also we rock.)

Journal #23: Making the brochure was fun! Its ended up being what I wished my marketing class was like. (Instead of being about wholesalers and me crying). Interestingly enough I also came up with a backpack for that product pitch. Anyways, I thought it was a unique and fun way to employ the AIDA model in the form of a brochure. As someone who eventually wants to go into public healthcare policy the brochure is truly my bread and butter, so I look forward to using my knowledge to advocate in that realm. Additionally, I thought this was a good way to think of how to advertise ourselves. After all, when we’re in a job interview we are the product we are selling. I think it would interesting to use some of the same language about ourselves that we use to describe products (not in a bad way, but in a positive way).
